For the Bristol Photographic Festival the CSAQ will be organising a series of events. For the opening weekend Fotohaus will be projecting a slide show of artists work and documentaries based on photography. Shop will be organising a photo marathon with the work being display on the Christmas steps.
For the trail we will be displaying work in residents windows and cafe wall spaces. We are looking to see if it may be possible to use the old Victorian toilets up on Park Row, but we will have to see about this.
We are looking to recruit some more exhibition spaces and window displays. So if you would be interested in helping out please get in touch.

We are looking to run photographic arts trail to coincide with the Bristol Festival of Photography from the 20th of May - 9th of June 2010.

We want work which explores the creativity and depth of the photographic medium. We are interested in bodies of work as well as individual images.

If you are interested in having your work make up the show please contact us as soon as possible.

All submission by 1st of May 2010.

We are looking for work that is creative and pushes the boundaries. Looking at all aspects of photography.

We hope the show be part of the bristol festival of photography.

We used a traditional map of the area to help design the map for the trail.

Drawing the outline of the area to find a style and feel that would fit with the area and the project.

As more artists started to get involved we decided to start working on a map which would mark the locations of the window gallery displays.

We documented the area, photographing the houses that agreed to have work displayed in the windows.
using this material as inspiration for the map.

We also documented key elements of the area.....

This would soon be brought back to life and used to display a copy of the map which directs people to all the window gallery displays.

We looked to have as many local artists involved and work that was based on the theme of 'individuality and independence'.

As we started to get interest from artists and get copies of their work we began to match work to the window gallery spaces. Looking for a variety of work and mediums and finding work that represented the area.

At one point there was talk of using the public Victorian toilets on Park row. This space was to be used for the opening night and as an information point. It would also be used to display 3D pieces of work.

Once we knew which window spaces would be involved we began looking for art work to fill the spaces.....

This project began as a way to bring the residents, traders and artists in the Christmas Steps area of Bristol together.

A small group of us started by making contact with residents in the area and completing a short questionnaire with those that had time.

Our aim was to run monthly exhibitions in dis-used shops and residents windows, we hoped that by running these shows it would keep the individual creative environment of the neighbourhood.
